v10.0.1 and earlier

Just spent 10 minutes trying to work out why a customer's database they sent me won't start as a service - error message is "Cannot open transaction log file -- Device is not ready"

As this happens at least once a year to me, I suppose I ought to remember "check the log file location - you idiot" but being in my declining years I don't. However if the message had said : "Cannot find transaction log file - X:/logs/db.log" even I would have spotted immediately that I don't have an x: drive !
