I'm not fully sure that's been that way but when upgrading from 12.0.0 (EBF 2601 or newer) to 12.0.1 MR and then EBF 12.0.1.3298, it seems that my personal DBISQL options have been reset to their defaults.

E.g. options like "Auto commit" or the compaibility option for "ESC" handling are set to their default, though I am quite sure I had set them to different values.

In case my observation is correct - is this intended behaviour?

(If so, it's not expected behaviour from my point of view...)

I'm running Win32, if that matters.

Yes, this is the expected behavior.

What's the reasoning behind?

And are that only MRs (in contrast to EBFs) that reset options?

(As stated, I had not expected such behaviour...)
