I might have misunderstood this so I need some help...

Do you always have to create a manual materialized view first and then do an alter so you get a immediate materialized view?

If not could someone please help me with the syntax for a immediate materialized view so it is directly created as a immediate materialized view without first beeing a manual view?

Thanks in advance...

You are not alone! ...clearly, that is a candidate for the list of "Characteristic Errors".

AFAIK, your understanding is correct: You cannot create an immediate MV directly, confine the docs (here for v16):

When you create a materialized view, it is a manual view and uninitialized.
