The Help simply says -gb normal and -gb high are the commonly used settings, and offers no other information or guidance.

The -gb option controls the process priority according to the OS. If you look in the task manager, you can see what priority the process has. The default would be whatever Windows uses for a default (probably "normal" in almost all cases). I suppose the help is terse because the specific details are determined by the OS, not by dbsrv11.

Note that the same option exists on UNIX and it corresponds to the "nice" level of the process. In this case it is a numerical value. The default is the same as the process that launched dbsrv11 (this is determined by the OS).
