You get a pretty clear indication when a new answer has been added, but often (at least in SQLA) the comments are just as interesting / important.

That's one thing I have been missing, too (and is a disadvantage compared to newsgroups IMHO). AFAIK, you only get informed about new comments to your own questions/answers. (So YOU might get notified of this comment:))

@Volker: I agree. @Justin: I think if you display the Questions - Active list, messages with fresh activity bubble to the top... but that include minor changes like tag edits etcetera.

Thanks Breck - I should have seen that it was happening. I agree with Volker about notifications, and it would be nice if you could somehow see what was new (esp the comments in a long Q&A session as often you have to click on the "x futher comments" to see the later comments).

IMHO, SQLA is based on Wiki principles (though I'm no sure if it is called a Wiki), and in a typical Wiki, there's often a "Recent changes" page that list all pages with any change...So should SQLA, I suggest.

Just to note: The new forum seems to behave as wanted:

Adding a comment puts the question to the top of the questions view.

Besides that, you can use the notification facility.
