We have a problem with our setup. While syncing we get the error [-10410] The client failed to send a complete sequence of commands on the server.

Our setup:

  • Sybase 16 Database on Windows
  • Hosted Mobilink with the command: mlsrv16 -c "DSN=amos0056" -o D:\mlserver14.txt -dl -zu+ -x tcpip -vcehpRstu
  • Sybase 16 Database on Windows Mobile 6.5
  • Sync called from the Windows Mobile 6.5 with the command: dbmlsync.exe -qc -x 5M -c "eng=amos_remote;uid=DBA;pwd=<REDACTED>" -u AmosSync -ot "Storage Card\Database\logEx.txt" -e "tor=amosuser,location,orderline,sparetype,unit,sys_member,sys_groups,sys_modules,sys_access,jdntransportcolloline,sparelocation,spareunit,sparelocationtemp,jdnamosmobileauditlog,sparepartlog,jdninventory,installation,department";

Our issue:

This setup works for one database (database A) but doesn't work for another (database B).

  • Database A: Works on Windows Mobile 6.5 device and Windows Mobile 6.1 device, +/- 2GB in size
  • Database B: Doesn't work on Windows Mobile 6.5 device and works on Windows Mobile 6.1 device, +/- 2.2GB in size

The log on the Windows Mobile 6.5 device for database B: It stays stuck on 'Buffering download stream: received xxxxxxxxx bytes' for a while until it just suddenly stops

What now?

We have no idea what to do next. We checked a lot of options

We tried adding "adr=timeout=600" option to the Windows Mobile 6.5 sync request, but this did not change a thing.

The only difference we see between the Windows Mobile 6.5 and Windows Mobile 6.1 versions is that the Buffering download stream: received xxxxxxxxx bytes stays for a longer time, and the number of bytes goes up more in the 6.1 version in comparison to the 6.5 version.

Any ideas?

16.0.0.1324 is very old... it's the original GA version of SQL Anywhere 16... many bugs have been fixed since then.

@Breck Carter: We have to use this version because we are using bought software (Amos) and they only support version 16.0.0.1324.

I found the 'bug' that it's supposed to fix, but that's not really the case here I think. Something is actually not working.

Error -10410 in the server log doesn't really mean anything; it basically means that the client disappeared and we don't know why.

In the dbmlsync log, the "Download stream: received..." indicates that the entire download was received and is presumably being applied to the remote database. You can turn on request logging in the remote database to see what dbmlsync is doing when it gets stuck.

Thanks for the suggestion! I enabled -v+ but it still doesn't say anything after that line.

If I check on a database that works, the next line should be 'I. 2018-06-20 14:39:27. Processing download stream ...'. But it doesn't show that either on the failed database.
