I have a file that LOOKS LIKE it was created with the 8.0.2.4293 archive BACKUP (not the usual image backup). It is sitting on a machine that only has SQL Anywhere 16 installed.

How do I restore and upgrade this file? Do I need to install SQL Anywhere 8? Will SQL Anywhere 9 work?

...or am I wrong about what the file contains?

A SQL Anywhere 16 RESTORE chokes...

RESTORE DATABASE 'xxx.db' FROM 'xxx.bak.1';
Could not execute statement.
Error during backup/restore: unable to open device
D:\xxx\xxx.bak.1 (Unknown err status reading HDR labels)
SQLCODE=-697, ODBC 3 State="HY000"

Here are the first few bytes from the file...

That certainly does look like an archive backup file. Can you email the file to me?
