i can't connect to database anywhere7 from pc as client when the database server is running under windows server 2008..

I don't remember the details any more but also for V9 of SQLA you needed a specific EBF to get a database server which was compliant to Win7 and Win Server 2008.

So my advice is: upgrade, when you use an up-to-date OS you should also consider running an up-to-date db software.

SQL Anywhere 7 is not compatible with Windows 2008. Install SQL Anywhere 9 latest EBF to run the Database on 2008.

Also:

Windows Server 2008 comes with the firewall enabled for the LAN connection by default. We typically have to add an exception for dbsrvXX.exe in order to use an ODBC connection.
